Building Envelope Project

 

Building envelope work continues across the Prince George Campus, including window installation, concrete work, exterior wall upgrades, siding installation, landscaping, painting, and exterior finishing.

Current impacts: Expect construction noise, temporary barriers, and localized detours in active work areas. Sidewalk replacement, fence removal, landscaping, and exterior finishing work continue throughout several campus locations. Please follow posted signage and use alternate routes where required.

Accessibility & Detours
Please use posted detour routes and alternate entrances during closures until further notice.

  • Accessible parking at the South Main Entrance is temporarily relocated near the crosswalk ramp.
  • The following entrances are closed or partially closed:
    • Main Entrance (partially closed)
    • East Entrance (closed)
    • Two 1st-floor exits in the 300 Block
    • Back entrance of the Health and Wellness Centre (closed except for emergencies)

Construction projects are a vital part of the ongoing development and improvement of the College. These projects bring numerous short- and long-term benefits, such as enhanced facilities and modernized infrastructure, improved overall campus experience, support for academic excellence, and promotion of sustainability.

Funding for Capital Projects comes from the government and is specifically allocated for construction projects to maintain and improve infrastructure. This funding is separate from the provincial funding that supports operational costs, research, and program-specific initiatives.

While building improvement projects bring many benefits, they also involve some short-term inconveniences. During construction projects, you may experience:

  • Temporary re-routing to alternate entrances and exits,
  • Closure of areas where construction is occurring,
  • Increased noise levels, and
  • Potential localized disruptions to utilities.

Efforts are made to minimize disruption. However, despite our best efforts, some construction-related inconveniences are unavoidable. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work towards enhancing our facilities.  Staying informed through our official updates will help you navigate any changes and ensure a smooth transition during this period.

Yes, alternate routes are typically provided to ensure safe access to campus buildings. Information on these routes will be posted around campus and online.
